Sailing Theory Class

Well, we are excited to announce we are hosting this class and better yet, Van Rogers will be giving the talk!

The class was held at Birmingham Sailing Club on Saturday August 7, 2021 begining at 9 a.m. and was wrapped up by 10:30, plenty of time to join the Doldrums One-Day Regatta and put your new knowledge to work! If you were unable to attend and wish to learn more, follow this link to the Sailing Theory Class.

A little bit more about Van…  Van grew up sailing at BSC and knows boats large and small.  In 2012 he received his US Sailing Level 1 Instructor certificate and is still an active sailing instructor.  As a child, Van raced Optis, but today you will find him at the tillers of both Flying Scots and Thistles.  Van’s race record is impressive: this year he won the Meigs Regatta and has taken fourth in both the South East Spring Series (Thistle) and the Choo Choo (Flying Scot).  He placed eighth Nationally in 2019 sailing a Flying Scot. Van is currently BSC’s Club Champion Skipper and a two-time crew champion.

Whether racing or not please join us for this informative talk!
