Principal Race Officer (PRO) Workshop
If you enjoy working on race committees, the Birmingham Sailing Club would like you to learn how to become a Principal Race Officer (PRO) for Sunday races and, later, at regattas.
Dave Whikehart, certified US Sailing Club Race Officer, led a workshop Saturday, April 10 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If you were unable to attend and wish to learn more, here is a link to the PRO Workshop PowerePoint presentation.
This informal, but inclusive session will describe:
• Organization
• Race course setup/ conduction of races
• Signaling
• Scoring
• Some new sailing rules
• Roles of race committee members
• Equipment
• Rescue operations.
• Follow-up on the water training
Although the workshop is open to all interested BSC members, the invitation is especially made to all sailors who would like to participate in race committee administration and become a PRO.
Workshop will be held indoors and all Covid-19 related safety protocols will be in place, including wearing face masks.
A light refreshment will be served but do bring a lunch.
