Learning to Sail on Lake Logan Martin
Welcome to the Birmingham Sailing Club adult sailing program. Our learn to sail class is designed to assist people who have never sailed but would like to try it, and for those who sailed many years ago, but have forgotten the difference between port and starboard.
The class consists of 3 or 4 two hour evening classroom sessions held in Birmingham where you learn about boating terminology and how boats work, and 2 on the water sessions at the club where you actually get to go out to set the sails and drive the boat with an experienced skipper.
The course is organized and taught by sailing instructors who are certified with US Sailing, the national organizing body for the sport of sailing in the United States. US Sailing writes the rules, train the instructions, race offices, and judges, and put together the US Olympic and Paralympic teams. The skippers who take you out on their boats are all club members and experienced sailors.
The class costs $75.00 to cover the cost of books, materials, snacks, and lunch for the on the water sessions.
Class is limited to first 20 registration forms received.
Registration forms will be posted about 6 weeks before the class.
