The second Snipe Southern Championship at Birmingham Sailing Club took place May 1st and 2nd 2010. While the first weekend of May 2009 had very light wind, this year the wind was up, and it was puffy and shifty. The first race was won by Tom Henderson and crew Bruno Mello from AYC in winds blowing in the mid-20s. The second race started with wind in the low 20s and died down to the mid teens, and won by Michael Papp and Nice Shindo from BSC. Third race of the day was won by Gene Soltero and his crew Catherine Holt from Dallas Snipe Fleet #1 at CSC.
Day 2 of racing was abandoned due to recorded steady winds of 28 mph on the lake.
I would like to thank all the members of the race committee and Fleet 828 who chipped in to make this a successful regatta. Thanks to Pauline, Nice, Laura, Daphine, and Mike.
Thanks to race committee: PRO Harry Reich, with Richard May, Mike Graham, Bo Smith, Margarette Pittenger, Mike Schuster, and Edwin Marty for making this a great event.
